Morning Update – Sept. 20
Morning update.
Meg did well overnight. They tried weaning her sedation back because her breathing was too slow but then she became distressed so they took it up. Had to provide some additional ventilator support. She was mostly breathing on her own with mostly O2 and minimal support. Hoping as she gets the tube removed from her mouth and leg closed today, she will be able to tolerate less sedation.
Her fever was down, which is good. White cell count was still up. Could be a sign of infection but also could be natural response to everything that has happened.
The results from the lab that checked the toxin produced by the dying muscle came back. Before her leg was removed it was over 150,000. It came down pretty quickly with the last test on Thursday at over 10,000. Yesterday it was 1,400. That’s over 85% reduced since Thursday and like 99.99% reduced since last week if I did that math in my head right.
Meg is supposed to be going for surgery today at 4. They are currently planning on removing the bypass, doing a tracheotomy to insert a tube for the ventilator or O2 support, and finishing the work on her leg.
Prayer needs:- possible infection – surgery- pain- heart, lungs, and kidneys- neurological recovery – peace and rest
Those aren’t in any specific order. They all feel super important.
