Eventing Update – Oct. 2

Megan got bumped for her PEG procedure again. Trauma does the procedure so emergencies take priority. It makes sense but hoping maybe they can get her earlier on the schedule. Problem is they have to compete with dialysis tomorrow. Friday they had to compete with dialysis and the MRI. Ended up squeezing them out.

This procedure will get the tube out of her nose, which should make her more comfortable.

Monday she is getting a longer term port for dialysis if all goes well and then Tuesday she gets her automatic defibrillator. This should complete the surgeries planned for the near future and allow her to get into a regular schedule. That will be important to address the ICU delirium.

She slept a lot today. We tried to keep her awake as much as possible but she was just so tired and as I said before, good sleep is so important for her recovery.

She got a good cleaning and then her nurse braided her hair while Susan did her nails. This was exhausting but she also really enjoyed it. It relaxed her into a very deep and peaceful sleep.

Susan and I came back to the Ronald McDonald House for dinner and so she could get ready to stay over tonight with Meg. On the way I said something about “going to the house.” It’s not home but it is a house. I realized we have a room at the house and it made me think of Jesus’ words in John.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”‭‭John‬ ‭14:2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is not the place I’d have chosen to be a month ago. When we got into the house it was so needed. We could sleep and take a shower. It’s been a place of peace and recovery for us.

It makes me grateful that Jesus is preparing our room in his Father’s house and that he will come to bring us to that place.
