Morning Update – Oct. 11
Meg slept really well last night. She woke up with coughing a couple of times but was able to go back to sleep easily. She also woke up needing to pee once around 3, which seems to be her normal time lately.
Yesterday after I posted the afternoon update the ENT doctor came and used the camera to check her sinus and throat. She passed with flying colors so today or tomorrow they will be removing the trach and covering the hole in her neck so it can heal.
The PA came and checked on her this AM and said he wants to get her into a chair so she can leave the room. That makes Megan very happy.
I expect she will be moving to a step down room today or tomorrow as well, which I think will be even better for her. Those rooms have wooden doors and fewer neighbors with loud alarms.
Overnight I slept pretty well but woke several times when I heard alarms going off on a ventilator. That brought back very bad experiences from the early days.
In other good news, Megan is moving her leg more and more. She can kick it up off the bed a few inches now. It will be a while before she can support her own weight, but it’s coming. Getting her out of bed more and more will improve her strength and make it easier to get her out of bed more and more. Kinda funny how that works.
Prayer needs:
- opening at closer rehab
- strength, control, and dexterity
- continued healing all over her body, especially kidneys
Talitha cumi. Let’s get out of that bed!
