Afternoon Update – Oct. 13
Meg slept OK overnight. She woke around 1am wanting a drink but she wasn’t allowed food or water after midnight because she was suppose to have a procedure in the AM. By 4am her need for water was becoming pretty insistent and she couldn’t sleep any more by 6am because of it.
The nurse tried talking her through making it 1 hour at a time and she was asking about every hour what time it was. Unfortunately by 11 the PA came with bad news that her procedure was moved to 2pm and she had a meltdown. I was worried this would happen because hospital time works that way. If they had known it would be afternoon she probably could have had water at 1 when she woke up and asked for it, but the other thing about hospital time is that if you try to assume it will involved a 2-3 hour delay, it means it will be on time.
Megan is out of the procedure so she only has 1 accessory left. This has to stay about 3 more weeks minimum assuming she is getting all her nutritional needs orally. That will probably be removed in rehab.
They will monitor her for the next 24 hours or so before moving her to step down, so tomorrow is supposed to be when she moves to a new room.
Last I heard Meg is either 2nd on the list or has 2 in front of her for rehab. Either way hopeful for next week or early the following.
In non-Megan news, my youngest son got punched at school today. I don’t have the full story but it sounds like a kid was messing with other kids and Tony got between them. That kid didn’t care for it but let it seem like everything was over. Then walked up and sucker punched Tony at the end of the day. I only share this because it’s really tough not being there for Tony and the other siblings. I’m super grateful for my parents and our big “village” who have done so great taking care of us and our family. It’s just really frustrating when I can’t be there for my kids directly.
When Meg heard about it she was ready to come up out of her bed and beat the other boy. I know who I’d put money on in that fight and she only had 1 leg to kick butt with.
So prayer needs:
- My son’s eye (picture day is tomorrow but I think we’ll do make up day for him)
- Megan’s rehab
- Overall continued healing and recovery
