Afternoon Update – Oct. 14

Meg slept better last night but has been in a fair bit of pain and discomfort today. Yesterday was a pretty tough day so this is all kinda building up on her and she has felt overwhelmed.

This is hitting her more or less all over including her phantom limb. A big part of it is discomfort from sitting in bed so long plus all the procedures one after another.

I expect both of these to get better. She shouldn’t have any more procedures for a while. Maybe in a couple of days they’ll remove a drain from her leg, but that should be pretty simple. Then in 3 weeks or so she’ll get the feeding tube removed. Again, this should be pretty simple.

OT got her sitting on the edge of the bed today. It helped her a good bit with that “laying in the same place too long” feeling.

PT is here with her right now. They are doing mirror therapy. This is part of a 3-pronged plan for helping with the phantom limb. This is using a mirror to show her right foot where her left foot would be and getting her to associate what she sees and “feel” those sensations. With this they can help her with some of those sensations.

We are moving rooms today. I think this will be a really good move for Megan. The new room has a door that blocks more light so hopefully she sleeps better at night.

Prayer needs:

  • Pain and discomfort
  • General recovery
  • Better sleep
