Morning Update – Nov. 8

Meg keeps moving forward. Someone from plastics came in to remove her JP drain. This was put in when they did the initial work on her leg after orthopedics removed the bone a month ago. This drain collected fluid so it wouldn’t form pockets and should let her leg heal. They had to measure the output and the goal was 3 days in a row with less than 30 CC output. She’s been getting close but so far the most she had was 2 days in a row. I was surprised when we learned it would be removed today.

That leaves just 1 accessory (her g-tube) which comes out next week.

Today we got her shoe on and helped her get to the toilet. She brushed her hair and then stood up again to get her pants up. She is standing so very well. She also stood all on her own (well some help to get standing) on the scale so she could be weighed today.

Finally, before moving her to her bed so she could get the drain removed in a bit, she stood again holding onto my arms. I didn’t hold her at all, she stood tall and even let go with one hand to show off. She stood for a few minutes and probably could have gone a bit longer if she pushed herself.

I feel like she’ll be walking by the end of week at rehab.

Speaking of rehab, we also learned she is confirmed with transfer orders for tomorrow. They will be doing a Covid swab after pulling the drain and we need to sign off on the imaging CD so all her images can be sent to the new facility.

Prayer Needs:

  • The drain removal goes well with little to no pain
  • No surprises or delays with the transfer tomorrow
  • Continued recovery

Talitha cumi. You are up, so shine bright!
