Morning Update – Nov. 10

Meg got to Kennedy Krieger late morning/early afternoon yesterday. I drove separately with all the stuff. I mean ALL THE STUFF! The car was packed so I barely had room.

Meg had a little rough transition. New teams, new ways of doing things. She was settled in her routine and this upset it. Routine is one of the things she had control of and so didn’t enjoy the change.

They put her on a monitor last night. I guess it was policy based on the admit status, but it made for a long, difficult night. Meg fell asleep easily enough but the monitor would regularly not read right and alarm for a few seconds then stop. I’m pretty sure it knew exactly when I was about to fall asleep because it did it all night long just as I was falling asleep. At one point it went off long enough that a nurse came in to check. By then Meg and I were up trying to adjust the sensor. The nurse got it sorted and the machine stopped beeping. At no point was she in trouble, just the sensor doesn’t read well when she moves a lot in her sleep.

This morning in rounds I intended to ask if this was necessary, but they told me she wouldn’t need to be on the monitor any more so that made her happy.

Already this morning she has been visited by Speech and Occupational Therapy. Physical Therapy is due in a few minutes and she will be going from one to the next most the day. Pretty busy schedule.

This should result in a new routine, which she will appreciate once she settles in.

Prayer needs:

  • Foot pain
  • Progress in rehab
  • Getting home

Talitha cumi, rehab is where the work starts.
