Morning Update – Nov. 11

Yesterday was a very busy day. Megan had therapy sessions with Speech, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy from 8:30-3:30 with a 90 minute break for lunch. These sessions were mostly evaluations, but she was doing new things as part of it. Like during her first OT session they were helping her get dressed, but had her put her pants on mostly by herself. Until then, we had been doing most of the work for her.

PT got her on a mat and she was able to roll to her side completely without needing to grab and pull on something. Then they got her to roll to her stomach, which was the first time on her stomach.

When she got back to the room at lunch she was in a really good mood and was excitedly telling us about her day, all the things she had done, and some of the equipment she used.

We are supposed to have the first “steering committee” meeting Friday afternoon. This will be a meeting with every team working with Megan and they will lay out the goals and timelines to reach goals. This will hopefully inform discharge expectations.

We’ve also confirmed her appointment with a neuro-opthamologist next week. I’m very excited for this so we can find out what treatments may be available to help her with her vision which comes and goes. She can always see, but often it’s blurry or her “eyes play tricks on her.” She’ll be able to read something, then it goes blurry and that leads to headaches.

Prayer Needs:

  • Foot pain/swelling
  • Vision
  • Continued recovery
  • Getting home

Talitha cumi, we’re praying for your vision but not gonna spit in your eyes 🙂
