Morning Update – Nov. 16
Megan woke feeling much better than yesterday. They have been encouraging more fluids, and that certainly didn’t hurt. Even though she made her fluid goal before bed, they supplemented her with additional fluids while she slept via her g-tube.
She is frustrated they didn’t get the consult scheduled so it could be removed yesterday, instead waiting till yesterday to schedule the consult. However, it’s worked for her good so she could get added fluids without an IV. They have her on the schedule to remove it Friday, so between now and then they may push extra fluids on her while she sleeps each night.
She had labs drawn at 6 this morning, then went back to sleep and didn’t wake till after 8, which was a bit late, but she needed the sleep. It was a rush to finish getting her ready in time for her first therapy session. I know she doesn’t like being rushed, but it’s a tough balance right now.
Tomorrow she has a consult with neuro-opthamology. I was hoping this would lead directly to some actionable tasks to improve her vision, but according to the therapy team it sounds like it will result in exam notes that will then be interpreted by the school for the blind that they are also consulting with. That team will be the ones who provide suggestions to help improve Megan’s vision. Feels like a very long route, but happy they know what they are doing.
Prayer needs:
- Continued recovery from the migraine
- Continued general recovery
Talitha cumi, there is so much to be thankful for!
