Morning Update – Nov. 27
Meg had another good day yesterday. The swelling on her foot is almost gone, just a little in her toes. The wound on her heel is almost completely recovered. The one from her g-tube is completely recovered. I think the one from her drain is finally done and looking good. Going to have wound care check it tonight.
The one on her stump looks better to me, but also going to have wound care check it tonight too.
Despite all of that recovery, Megan is covered in scars from her head to her heel. Did you know that the defibrillator leaves bad burns? She has big scars from being shocked over and over for 3 hours.
She calls them her battle scars and is mostly ok with them, but what 15 year old girl wants big, visible scars on her neck? Plus they are sore and itch and just annoy her.
We got some scar minimizing lotion and vitamin E oil. I mix them and put it on her. I’m already seeing improvement and hope it goes a long way to make the scars less visible. Today Meg has 2 hour long therapy sessions. 1 for PT that she wrapped up and one for OT that is going now. Then she is done for the day. Maybe expect there will be a child life thing but we don’t know the time.
Prayer needs:
- stomach upset
- general recovery
Talitha cumi, wear your battle scars proudly.
