Morning Update – Dec. 15

Posted later last night so not a lot has changed. Meg slept well and woke up in a good mood. She is off in therapy and has been wheeling herself more and more. When one of her therapists came to get her from the room earlier she started to push Meg and I said to let Megan wheel herself. The goal is independence, so I’m trying to let Meg ask for help instead of just doing things for her.

This goes against my every instinct right now. Like she put her own pants on today and I was there while she stood to finish pulling them up and I kept having to stop myself from helping, but she got it all by herself.

In bad news, somehow Coco was lost. Coco is a stuffed dog that a friend of Meg got her after her heart attack. She has become the favored stuffie and has seen Megan through all of her dressing changes and other pain management.

• Return of Coco

Talitha cumi, you are more and more independent and I’m so proud.

UPDATE: Coco was found. She was left in the playroom and someone picked her up for safe keeping. She made it back to Megan after lunch.
