Noon Update – Dec. 17

Another day with little to update. Megan continues to get stronger and better. We are getting down to the last 6 days and she is able to do pretty much everything without actual assistance. We will be there close in case she loses her balance or gets weak, but for the last week she hasn’t had any incidents.

Yesterday she and Susan signed an “independence contract.” Basically this allows her to move about independently. She goes to her therapy sessions without being taken to them. Today she is in a “trial” where she has someone with her, but she is responsible to get to and from while supervised, but not being pushed around for everything. She could even sign herself out of the floor and head over to the food court or something if she wanted.

It’s a little scary, but also very exciting for her.

She was looking forward to this and then they had a meeting and decided she takes a long time to get around by herself and she might miss too much therapy. Meg was not happy about that, so they decided to do this trial period. That made her much happier.

We are still working on figuring out the dressing situation. They only have tan coban. That is a self adhesive wrap. The problem is, that doesn’t stick well. I don’t know why it isn’t as good as the colored stuff, but it just isn’t. It falls off after a few hours at best. The other colors will last 24 hours the way I’m doing it now. I tried picking some up from Walgreens, but they didn’t have much selection either. The one I tried fell off faster than the tan.

We have signed contracts for the chair lifts to get Megan to the main and second floor in our home. Unfortunately it looks like the second week of January is when that can be installed. We’ll need to figure out how to give Megan access to the whole house while we wait for the install date.

Prayer Needs:

  • Favor on install date for chair lift
  • General recovery

Talitha cumi, you are strong and independent.
