Afternoon Update – Dec. 27

Megan had an appointment with Orthopedics today. They are recommending another surgery to help speed up the wound closure. I think it will be an outpatient surgery and the orthopedic surgeon seems to think that it will cut her recovery down to a couple of weeks instead of weeks and weeks.

He also started talking about fitting her for a prosthetic. Which is odd because this is the same surgeon who told me that any prosthetic would be purely decorative.

Megan said she would be willing to do the surgery to close this wound more quickly. I support her decision, but at the same time, surgeons see the world through the lens of surgery. So it’s hard for me to know the right choice for her.

We’ll be seeing plastics on Thursday and will check with them about this too before making a final decision. I think that’s the best course right now.
