Morning Update – Oct. 4

They started dialysis on Megan after 10pm last night. 3 hours of dialysis meant they were running it till after 1 but then there was a problem with the machine so after fixing it that meant she was hooked up till almost 2 and alarms going off constantly really messed with her sleep. Plus I suspect some of the meds that are suppose to help her were filtered via the dialysis.

She did fall asleep pretty well after the dialysis was disconnected and all the alarms stopped. I was up till the dialysis nurse took the equipment and the lights could be turned off at 2:30am.

Megan was up a bit after 4 and in boredom or anxiety started pulling her O2 off causing alarms to go off. We’ve both been up since. I got her to settle down and get maybe 20 minutes of sleep but the second I left her side she was up again.

I’m so angry about them starting her dialysis so late which resulted in a predictably terrible night of sleep. It’s simple enough math.

I still don’t know what to do about the procedure she is supposed to have today. I feel like she should get a shorter term catheter but for whatever reason they haven’t done a sample of her urine so we don’t know what kind of quality she is producing right now. I don’t know if we are talking a few days of dialysis or weeks more.

Being so short on sleep isn’t making this easy either. Mostly it is making me angry.
