Morning Update – Oct. 15

Meg slept much better in the new room. They had to do a blood draw at 2am and she went to sleep right after, then woke up at 4 needing to use the restroom and went to sleep right after. She slept till almost 7am after.

I talked with the team at rounds about why she needed labs done in the middle of the night. TLDR; there is a shot she gets and they have to do labs 4 hours later to verify it’s working. They only have to do that every 3-5 days till they get the numbers stable, then every 2 weeks. At least till she gets moving around and doesn’t have the risk of blood clots and can get off the shot. We will be doing the shot earlier in the day so if they need labs, they can do them before bed.

Megan also ate very good today. She just had a small fruit bowl with blueberries, strawberries, apples, and oranges, but she fed herself and ate almost the whole bowl. That was really good.

She is increasingly able to move herself around. I helped her sit up and let her sit in bed for several minutes then got a pillow from home propped behind her so she could sit up better. New positions help a lot with that “been in this bed for over a month” feeling. She pulled herself to the side and got another pillow set up so she could rest a bit sideways. This is a recent ability and will help her strengthen her arms more. Also she went to sleep so good on her 🙂

During rounds they remarked that her kidneys are getting better remarkably fast and performing amazingly well. Very good to hear.
