Afternoon Update – Oct. 18

Meg slept till 6am once she was able to get to sleep a little after midnight. She wanted to stay up so she could drink and snack as long as possible. Memories of the last time and surgery being delayed made her very anxious.

After she fell asleep the nurse practitioner came in and said she needed potassium. Then a few minutes later came back and said they updated the labs and it turns out she didn’t need potassium. Both happened just as I was falling asleep which broke my sleep till 2 or so. Then I finally crashed till Meg woke up at 6.

They had to do pre-surgery prep including washing her body and changing her into the hospital gown.

The surgery ended up fairly early at 8 and they got her moved down to pre-op a little after 7.

There were a couple younger kids there and one was grumpy about the early time, scratchy gown, and not being able to eat. So was Meg. That made her kind of miserable.

As far as I know the surgery went well. They were done faster than I expected. They also have a wound vac on this time, so I’m hoping that speeds up recovery.

Meg is in a good bit of pain right now but they are giving her the strong stuff too. Took her pain from an 8 to a 6 in about 10 minutes. In a little while she will get her PJs on and be more comfortable.

Prayer needs:

  • healing in her leg as she recovers from the last surgery
  • pain
  • continued improvement with mobility

Talitha cumi baby.
