Morning Update – Dec. 4

Meg slept really well last night. She fell asleep while I was reading before 10pm and didn’t want to get up to go potty. She was just tired. I thought she’d wake up at 1am needing to go to the bathroom but she slept till after 5. After getting her to the bathroom I checked with the nurse to see if she could get her 6am dose of antibiotics so she wouldn’t have to wake up again. She did and then went back to sleep till 8 when the nurse came to do vitals and give her more meds.

The nurse thought she was doing OT at 8:30am, but she actually had PT at 11am as her first therapy. Meg could have gone back to sleep but instead got up and started getting some things ready, then momma came and helped her get a shower and I did her dressing change. In all it was a nice, slow morning. That’s the way Meg really prefers to do her day. She’ll wake up WAY too early so she doesn’t feel rushed. So this worked for her.

She didn’t have diarrhea for a good long while. She pooped this morning but it was more solid. After lunch she pooped again and it was loose but not as bad as the past weeks, so I think we are still waiting, but I think she may be over it by tomorrow or Monday.

Meg was disappointed because she hoped she might be able to leave the room tomorrow, but I wasn’t thinking this would clear up till Sunday or Monday. I am still hopeful.

During PT and OT we were in the room and watching. She is getting so much stronger. During PT they had her use the walker to stand 3 sets of 5. She was doing really well the whole time. During OT they had her practicing transfers from her wheelchair to the shower chair, which is something she really struggled with but is getting so much better at.

Right now we are watching The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause. This is a seasonal favorite and it’s great we can still do some of these traditions, but I’m sad we aren’t with the rest of the family.
