Morning Update – Dec. 9
Dressing change went well last night, but her leg has been more painful today. It’s not unbearably painful, but the vibrating snake is running low on batteries because she is relying on it to help distract from the pain sensation a lot.
Last night was a bit rough. Overall Megan slept from 10pm till almost 8am. She didn’t get out of bed till after 8am. They did wake her to take her meds at 6:20 or so and again just before 8 for the rest of her meds. She slept somewhat fitfully though. She tossed around enough that she triggered the nurse call button twice until I moved it so that she couldn’t do it again. She banged her knee on the bed a few times too. She also talked in her sleep a lot. At one point she said, “oh no! They said it has to be fully solid.” I kind of think she was dreaming that she couldn’t leave her room because her poo wasn’t solid enough yet. I could be wrong, but it fits with what she has been stressed over.
This morning she took a shower with OT. She was able to transfer to the shower chair by herself, and got undressed and bathed herself with little to no help. Susan was in the room assisting but said Meg was very independent.
I put some clear plastic bandages over the inner dressing after removing the outer dressing. That kept all but a few drops of water out, and then I just wrapped the outer dressing again when she was dressed.
The best news of the day is that they released her from quarantine. She is out of the room right now. This means she can finish her in-patient therapy, which I think is the best for her. She was able to go to the gym for her PT this morning and will be able to go to the rec room this afternoon. She can see the friends she has met here and that is HUGE for Meg.
We would love to be going home this weekend, but I think Meg will really benefit from the next couple of weeks of therapy now that she has access to the equipment again.
Prayer Needs:
- Healing of her last remaining wound
- General recovery
Talitha cumi, you’ll be here a little longer but you are getting so much better!
