FAQ
Thanks for your interest in Megan and her family. Here are a few answers to some general queries we’ve gotten so far so that you can get up to speed quickly.
Please read our intro post about how and why this site exists. It’s a great jumping-off point, and gives info that you may find valuable.
Megan, an otherwise healthy 15-year-old, had a sudden cardiac event during her normal school day in early September 2021. She has been hospitalized since.
Her father Nick is deeply embedded in the tech community and their family (co-helmed by Meg’s mom Susan) is deeply committed to serving their local community. Many people are invested in this family and their well-being, so much so that this site was born.
Thank you for asking! Please check the updates page, twitter feed, or the private Facebook group for the latest on Meg’s milestones and care.
Rebecca and Jett. (Hey, y’all!)
Nick is a former colleague, current good friend, and fellow meme dork. Reb and Jett have each been friends of the family for some time, and wanted to serve them by helping provision for any needs that pop up during this overwhelming season of their lives.
This site is launched with the full authorization of Nick and Susan, and 100% of the net funds* are disbursed to the Croft family or as directed by them for their family needs.
*By "net funds" we mean "Whatever comes in to the GoFundMe, minus any voluntary tips donors add to the GoFundMe platform." We are donating the site, hosting, and time to moderate/assist/help provide whatever the Croft family requests.
In order to protect Susan and Nick’s time and overall well-being, this site is heavily moderated. We clear comments twice per day, at roughly 8a and 8p CST.
At this time, we’re requesting that you give them the “grace of space.” If you have an urgent or weighty inquiry, you can reach out to the admins and we’ll guide you or put you in touch with the appropriate party.
Yep. And great form swinging it.
We are doing this alongside and around our personal responsibilities, but you’ll never have to wait more than 24 hours to hear back from us.
If you’d like to mail monetary donations, cards and letters, or other in-kind gifts directly to Megan and her family, the Croft family’s church graciously offered to receive those to pass along. Please send only cards, letters, gift cards/checks, and small gift items. Cash, flowers, or food items should not be sent at this time.
